What to do when you have impulsively bought ten kiwi fruit only because they were 10/$.99? Make sorbet of course!
I alway have a stash of fresh ginger root on hand when I am pregnant (in case I need an early morning brew of ginger tea to sooth an upset tummy), and so with ripe kiwis and ginger available, it was a no-brainer for today's beat-the-heat solution. It's HOT!
Kiwi-Ginger Sorbet
1 tablespoon peeled and finely grated fresh ginger root
½ cup sugar
1 ¼ cups water
5 kiwi fruit
Peel the kiwi and blend until very smooth. Add the puree to the chilled syrup and mix well.
Churn in an ice cream maker until think. Transfer to a plastic tub and freeze until ready to serve.
Enjoy!
Serves 6.

Gorgeous colour.
How pretty! I miss our icecream maker. We should have taken it out of storage this past Xmas and cranked out some festive flavors but I guess we were too low on energy and initiative.
So are you noticing any differences with this pregnancy yet? Or are ou feeling the same as you did with Noah? I had a bit of insomnia and headaches with Acadia that I didn't experience with Blaise. I also gained 10 less lbs with her (which to me confirmed my girl premonitions:)
I can barely hold myself back.
Only a woman thinks about putting a ribbon on popsicles for a photo. Funny.
The sorbet is so pretty and the popsicles are cute! Kiwi and ginger is a terrific combination. I bought candied kiwi slices from the market a few weeks ago and still haven't figured out what to do with them - any ideas?
I like ginger tea too. I have a sensitive tummy that ginger always helps.
I love, love, love the little kiwi pops!
Looks so good. I love the presentation! Yes, Zaak even the ribbons!

Hi Mandy- Thanks!
Hi Amber- it's not as fun to make ice cream in the winter...and I have a feeling this one is a girl. I'll email you.
Zaak- I would venture to say that there is a guy or two out there who has used ribbons to dress up a pop!
Hi Nora- Thanks! Hmm, candied kiwi, that must be really sweet. I'll have to think about that one.
Hi Amanda- Thanks! They are cute, eh?
Hi Miranda- Come over and try some!
Hi Kate- That's sweet of you to say so! Thank you.
wow, I love the colours! This is a great way to beat the heat. I must make note of this for summer.
I love kiwi, I love ginger...and the two together sound like a perfect combination...not to mention how pretty that green is. :-)
So beautiful, Aimée! What a wonderful way of using kiwis.
Your sorbet is so beautiful. I like the popsicles :)
Hi, it reminds me very much of Stephanie and her very tolerable taste buds. Good memories
How beautiful! I love the color in the sorbet and the ribbons are too cute.
Hi jenjen- Hope you enjoy some of your own next summer! Of course, 'kiwi' takes on a whole new meaning down under, doesn't it? :)
Hi Belinda- Thanks, that's very sweet of you.
Hi Patricia- Thanks so much!
Hi Ninja- Yay! More support for the popsicles!
Hi April- Ah yes, she did love to eat.
Hi Lynn- Thanks! I knew a woman would appreciate the ribbons. :)
Hi again, I tried a piece of the candied kiwi and surprisingly, it wasn't that sweet. And it had a slight tangy/sour taste too.
